![]() Serbian Language Serbian Language plays an integral part in our community. It is the language of our homeland, and as such, St. Elijah’s church community strives to preserve the language by offering Serbian language classes to children of all ages throughout the school year. Native-born Serbs, who are qualified educators, teach all our Serbian language classes. Besides weekly Serbian language classes each child has an opportunity to participate in Divine Liturgy services by singing in the choir, both in English and in Serbian and by reading the Epistle, in both languages, during the Divine Liturgy. ![]() As part of our annual St. Sava church school slava celebration, all children recite poems and sing songs about St. Sava and the Orthodox Faith in Serbian. Children also get the opportunity to learn prayers in both languages during the church school classes every Sunday. By doing so, St. Elijah keeps its mission to teach our wonderful Orthodox faith, as well as our Serbian language, culture and traditions. |
